The Rumen is a car inspired from the classic cars of the thirties, both their style and their production philosophy. Each car will be produced to individual customer order and specification. The car is much more an object of art than a utility vehicle for daily transport.


The style may be 1930's but the technology is pure 21st century. The body is crafted from carbon fibre composite which provides an ultra light and rigid structure in conjunction with a tubular steel frame. The power unit is a high output 700cc in-line three cylinder turbocharged engine that meets Euro IV emissions. The power output can be chosen as 61, 75 or even 100 HP for the brave. The drive is via a 6 speed sequential gearbox to the rear wheels. In further contrast to its 1930's roots, the car is equipped with ABS, stability control and the leather lined interior is air conditioned as standard.


This car which is based on modern technology will be available with three different engine tuning levels. As it is very lightweight, its performance is attractive and its stability can be compared to that of the best sportscars currently available. The car will offer a top quality finish and can be tailored to meet customer's requirements. Our price will be established in relation to our clients' orders. We intend for many people to have a base price of 40.000 Euros.


We also plan to make our vehicle available to the markets of UK, USA and many other countries, both as a finished vehicle and as a kit-car.

Magna Steyr is unveiling a completely new vehicle concept for the first time at the IAA 2005. Called the "MILA Concept" (Magna Innovation Lightweight Auto), it is packed full of exciting ideas and countless technical innovations.


The MILA Concept version showcased at the IAA is a single-seater sports car with a mid-engine and rear-wheel drive. Magna Steyr is not only using the MILA Concept as further proof of its "complete vehicle competence" that has gone into so many successful production vehicles, but also to demonstrate its engineers' creativity and their skill in meeting innovative and technically demanding challenges.



The concept vehicle's technical highlights include:


Eco-friendly CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) powered engine combined with extremely sporty performance


Consistent lightweight construction


Modular design principle enabling different models to be built (single or two-seater, normal or high-power engine, etc.) without much extra effort, as the components and modules have been developed in advance and optimized in terms of cost and weight



Advanced vehicle safety thanks to the monocoque body?s high stiffness.


Magna Steyr is confident that natural gas will gain more and more ground as an alternative fuel for road vehicles in the future. A study by the German Automotive Industry Association published in Frankfurt recently came to the conclusion that in Germany alone some two million natural gas vehicles will be licensed in the next 15 years. According to the study, natural gas vehicles could reach a market share of around 4% by the year 2020.


CNG is available today in sufficient quantities and has many advantages over automotive gas (i.e. butane or propane). It provides, for example, higher antiknock quality and only has to be cleaned, filtered and dried before use, while automotive gas can only be obtained using complex refinery processes.


Engines reach a higher degree of efficiency with CNG than with gasoline (up to 32% compared with 25%). What?s more, under the stringent Californian emission legislation of 2004, a CNG vehicle belongs to the eco-friendly AT-PZEV category (Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle).


Irrespective of the MILA Concept, which is an initial important step in the right direction, Magna Steyr will focus more on the development of natural gas engines in the future. Here the company?s engineers will benefit from Magna Steyr?s long-standing experience in the field and specific technical expertise in the development and manufacture of fuel tanks and fuelling systems.


The engine used in the MILA Concept, installed in the rear as a mid-engine, is a standard 1.6-litre four-cylinder model that was converted to monovalent CNG operation, which means it will run on natural gas alone. Apart from installing CNG-specific injection valves, no other modifications had to be carried on the original gasoline engine. Its maximum power of 110 kW (150 hp) gives the concept vehicle a top speed of over 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds.


The fuel tank is a composite CNG safety pressure cylinder (aluminium liner wrapped with carbon fibre) and located safely behind the driver's seat should there be a crash. In the version on show at the IAA, the tank volume is 76 litres, which gives the vehicle a driving range of around 200 km at any one time.


The attractive, Class-A stampings made of glass-reinforced polyester designed by the Magna Steyr Styling Department conceal an ultramodern, extra light and extra stiff space frame in 6000 series aluminium alloy - weighing only around 100 kg. The entire chassis is a lightweight construction made of high-strength steel. Given the consistent lightweight design throughout, the complete vehicle weighs in at around 850 kg.


The current version of the MILA Concept experimental vehicle has a closed body with a Perspex bubble over the driver. If the vehicle goes into volume production at a later date, a three-part bubble made of laminated glass would be conceivable instead of the Plexiglas one.


Since a basic principle in Magna Steyr's corporate strategy is not to market any vehicles of its own, the MILA Concept does not involve any plans or proposals to build a vehicle under the Magna Steyr brand. In fact, the company is seeking an OEM as a partner in the promising MILA Concept project with a view to jointly turning it into a production mature and marketable vehicle. Magna Steyr estimates the time required for production development to be about 23 months.


Studies have revealed that there are definitely market opportunities for a vehicle of the MILA Concept type. Potential customers range from


Individualists, techies and lifestylers with a penchant for innovative, original, pioneering vehicles

Drivers who are looking for a vehicle using eco-friendly alternative fuels that they can drive in built-up areas, even when environmental regulations close city centres to private traffic (e.g. ban on driving because of particulate emissions,

Fresh-air aficionados who don't really want to miss the feeling of riding a motorcycle, but still prefer to drive on four wheels (perhaps only because they don't have a motorcycle licence) with a roof over their heads if need be

Potential buyers who already have one or two conventional vehicles in the family and are therefore interested in something "completely different" as a second or third car - a vehicle with a hint of Formula One fascination, a funky fun car with a sporty look, power and performance but at an affordable price.


Presenting the MILA Concept at IAA 2005 is primarily intended as living proof of the comprehensive range of services provided by Magna Steyr's development engineers. It is also aimed at gauging public opinion: how will the experts and IAA visitors react to a vehicle of this type?

The custom-built show car on display at the IAA naturally works and can be driven at any time. After the IAA, Magna Steyr is also considering giving the media and OEM representatives the opportunity to test drive the vehicle.

It only took six months to completely develop and build the vehicle on show. All the development steps up to the complete concept vehicle were modelled virtually - including crash performance, fatigue strength, ergonomics, thermal analysis, aerodynamics, etc

SsangYong Motor Company will introduce the new Actyon on the South Korean market in October.


The car, codenamed C100 was previewed at the at the 2005 Seoul Motor Show earlier this year.


Actyon stands for Action and Young. Powertrain options will include a new 2.0-liter common rail diesel engine.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today unveiled Pivo, its imaginative electric car concept, in partnership with renowned Japanese artist Takashi Murakami at the company's Nissan Ginza Gallery in downtown Tokyo.


Pivo, which will be on display at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, features an innovative cabin that revolves 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse. Thanks to its compact body, the car is also exceptionally easy to maneuver.


The three-seater car comes with a number of user-friendly technologies, including Nissan's Around View Monitor which reduces blind spots by displaying the outside surroundings on screens mounted on the inside of the car's A-pillars located on either side of the windshield. A dash-mounted infrared (IR) commander allows the driver to operate the navigation and stereo systems with simple finger movements without letting go of the steering wheel.


Pivo is powered by Nissan's compact, high-performance lithium-ion battery and its unique Super Motor, resulting in zero emissions.


The gallery space for the Pivo event, which was designed by Murakami, features a futuristic vegetable garden installation, as well as large balloons and illustrations of "Pivo-chan," a character he designed based on the concept car's inspiring image.




The Pivo concept car examines the potential of future electric vehicles. The Pivo's most distinctive feature is its cabin that revolves 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse. A compact body also makes the car exceptionally easy to maneuver. Excellent visibility is enhanced by Nissan’s Around View technology, which helps reduce dangerous blind spots. The navigation and audio systems are simple to operate while driving. These features are supported by Nissan’s innovative environment-friendly technologies such as the Compact Lithium-ion Battery. Pivo promises to turn dreams into reality.



Easy-to-drive and user friendly



Outstanding maneuverability: Pivo is ideal for urban driving. It can easily pass oncoming traffic even on the narrowest streets and is a cinch to park in the tightest of spots. Pivo seats three passengers comfortably despite an overall length of just 2,700 mm. The driver sits front and center while two passengers sit side-by-side in the rear. Tall, electrically-powered sliding doors make it easy to get in and out without hitting your head.




There’s no going back: Parking in a tight spot invariably requires backing in inch-by-inch. But with Pivo there’s no going back; you simply pivot the entire cabin – hence the concept’s name. This ability to park while always looking forward is enabled by Nissan's advanced drive-by-wire technologies that preclude the need for mechanical connections between cabin and chassis.




Easy to operate with no hidden dangers: Today’s urbanites are deluged with information from all sides. But Pivo manages the flow with a host of telematics features that deliver the right information at the right time. The driver can control the information flow without taking the eyes off the road. What’s more, visibility is enhanced by see-through pillars, Nissan's Around View Monitor and other innovations that reduce blind spots.



Futuristic exterior and interior



Inside and out, Pivo’s state-of-the-art innovations are showcased by a design that is futuristic yet friendly. Front and rear lamps feature a clear, clean-looking design. And the exterior even features oval recesses both front and rear that are covered with soft materials – comfy places to sit outside when Pivo is parked. You find the same thoughtfulness in a soft, organic interior that extends from the center of the revolving egg-shaped cabin, which is the Pivo's most unique feature. Because the platform has a longitudinally symmetrical design, the driver's perception of the car's corners does not change even when the cabin is rotated 180 degrees.



Advanced technologies enhance driving experience



Pivo is powered by a Nissan-developed high-performance Compact Lithium-ion Battery and Nissan’s unique Super Motor. The result is zero emissions. Beyond this outstanding environmental performance, the electric powertrain enables a highly compact body. Designers made the most of Nissan’s Compact Lithium-ion Battery – which, being flat, require much less space than conventional cylindrical cells – to achieve remarkable packaging efficiency. Even more space and weight savings are achieved with Nissan’s Super Motor. One Super Motor on each axle delivers power to two shafts, each of which can be controlled independently. This allows efficient distribution of torque to all four wheels with two (not four) electric motors.




Pivo's unique revolving cabin is just one of the myriad possibilities enabled by Nissan’s multiple drive-by-wire technologies. These include steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire and shift-by-wire systems that replace mechanical linkages with electronic signals. By eliminating the need for mechanical links between cabin and chassis, designers were able to create the unique pivoting passenger compartment. Drive-by-wire technologies afford even more flexibility inside the cabin as the layout of steering, braking and other functions is no longer governed by mechanical linkages. Even better, drive-by-wire systems mean less weight and fewer mechanical parts.




See-through pillars and Nissan’s Around View Monitor helps to reduce dangerous blind spots. Cameras mounted on the outside of each A-pillar feed an accurate image of the surroundings to screens mounted on the inside of the pillar. The net effect is pillars that become virtual windows. The Around View Monitor meanwhile generates a 360-degree view of the car’s surroundings on a dashboard monitor. Cameras positioned front and rear on both sides of the car capture images of the surroundings. An innovative image processing technique synthesizes these images into a single bird’s-eye view.




A dash-mounted infrared (IR) commander allows drivers to operate the navigation system and audio system without taking an eye off the road or fumbling around for controls. It’s a new type of human-machine interface (HMI) that uses an infrared camera and Nissan’s "Magic 4" concept. You simply point fingers at the infared commander to choose from any of four items on a menu. If you want item number three, hold up three fingers. Or, for example, if you want the music louder, just motion upwards with your hand.




Thanks to Nissan's Horizontal Display there is even less need to take an eye off the road – because information is displayed along the bottom of the windshield. This system, first featured in the Serenity concept shown at the Tokyo Motor Show two years ago, displays information in the manner of movie subtitles. This innovative display system supports Nissan's future telematics interface concept. For example, in “City Browsing mode,” the system can display information transmitted live from nearby locations. What’s that building up ahead? City Browsing labels it.

Mitsubishi has plenty planned for the upcoming 39th Tokyo Motor Show, including the highly-anticipated world concept debut of its next-generation rally car.


The highlight of Mitsu's show stand will be Concept-X, which is basically the next-generation Lancer Evolution. The company will also show Concept-D:5, a go-anywhere, high-performance concept, a new-look Outlander and the new-age i minicar.


Concept-X is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four mated to a clutchless six-speed auto-manual transmission controlled by paddle shifters mounted on the steering column.


The frame has been significantly stiffened, while the use of aluminum in the hood, trunk lid, fenders, roof and front and rear door panels reduces weight. Reducing weight in the roof and upper parts of the body helps lower the center of gravity, while weight reduction in the doors, engine hood, and trunk reduces the moment of inertia for better steerability.


Suspension is MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link at the rear.


The on-board multimedia system includes a high-definition liquid crystal monitor providing real-time display of vehicle and the all-wheel-drive system’s operating status while also displaying on-board navigation system maps and DVD audio controls. Rear seat passengers have their own liquid crystal display on the back of the front seats that allows them to share with the driver driving-related information and his/her fun-to-drive experience.

At the 35th Tokyo Motor Show in 2001, Nissan unveiled the GT-R Concept, confirming that the GT-R legend would be continued into the 21st century. Then, at the 37th Tokyo Motor Show in 2003, Nissan announced the next-generation GT-R would be rolled out in 2007. Now with the launch of the production model just two years away, the development of the new GT-R has moved ahead again with the reveal of the GT-R PROTO.


Ultimate driving pleasure


In essence, driving pleasure means that a car responds faithfully to the driver's wishes and performs precisely as expected. Successive generations of the GT-R have consistently pursued this vision of ultimate driving pleasure. Whether on the road or the racetrack, the GT-R has always represented ultimate performance combined with handling qualities that stay faithful to the driver’s wishes, in all conditions. As a result, the GT-R has built a reputation that extends far beyond just its loyal owner base.


Exterior design: pure performance


The design of the GT-R PROTO expresses pure GT-R heritage, coming from the first model PGC10 (1969) through R34 (1999), in a new and expressive form.


From its original roots as a pure-bred Japanese performance car, the new GT-R will now be a car sold globally, recognising its ability to compete with the very best in the world. For the first time in its history, the new GT-R will be designed as a specific body-style, and not derived from a sedan.


The design language of the GT-R PROTO is expressed by a distinctive body-style that communicates pure performance and functionality. The form of the GT-R PROTO instantly expresses its purpose and potential, but in a way that is unique to this iconic car.


At the front end, the single centre air intake is designed to optimise airflow and to strongly link the identity of the GT-R from R34 to GT-R Concept (2001). Front fenders are uniquely designed through intensive analysis of the airflow around the tyres and the air vent behind the front fender also optimises aerodynamics. The sides of the body are sculptured towards the rear fender, expressing the power and dynamic tension of the car.


The overall shape of the body combines solid and smooth surfaces to achieve the look of a well-trained athlete. The unique C-pillar crease is designed for optimum aerodynamics, reflecting the racing DNA of the GT-R.


The rear of the GT-R PROTO is strong and well defined. The signature four ring-shaped tail lamps provide an immediate visual link to previous GT-R models. Four large-bore exhaust pipes complete the purposeful look, which could only be that of a pure GT-R.


The GT-R PROTO provides for the first time a clear indication of the final design direction for the production model to be launched in 2007, the first all-new GT-R in eight years.

Cel mai „rău” Polo din istorie

La Salonul Auto de la Tokyo Volkswagen va prezenta în premieră mondială cel mai rapid Polo construit până acum de compania germană. Acesta va purta indicativul GTI (o garanţie a sportivităţii pentru cunoscători), şi va prelua multe dintre elementele de design de la fratele mai mare Golf GTI.


Este vorba, în primul rând, de grila trapezoidală a radiatorului, vopsită în negru, de eleronul discret situat deasupra lunetei, dar şi de modelul special al jantelor, care se deosebesc de cele de la Golf GTI doar prin dimensiunile mai mici (16 ţoli faţă de 18). Toate acestea ajută la diferenţierea lui Polo GTI de un Polo oarecare, pentru că noua versiune dispune de atuuri deosebite.

Sub capotă este montat un motor turbo de 1,8 litri şi 150 CP, capabil să propulseze micul automobil de la 0 la 100 km/h în 8,2 secunde. Cu siguranţă, aceasta nu este o valoare care să-i dea pe spate pe specialiştii în maşini sport, însă până acum nici un Polo nu a fost atât de rapid: viteza maximă pe care o poate atinge este de 215 km/h. Preţurile vor fi anunţate în preajma lansării europene.
