Hallo new Ford Fiesta! Ford is not sitting back and letting the new Renault Clio and updated VW Polo steal the limelight in the small car segment. We have exclusive spy photos of a new Fiesta. Fresh sideskirts and new alloy wheels complete the changes. The biggest changes to the car are reserved for the interior where Ford is giving the Fiesta's cabin a quality and image boost. Its interior architecture will reflect that of the Focus and in terms of fit and finish rumours have it that quality will be top notch. The engine range is set to stay the same but apparently all models will get an updated suspension setup. Ford will probably only launch the facelifted Fiesta locally in the first quarter of 2006.

Motor company Honda has announced plans to develop motorcycles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. By 2009, the company expects to be leasing fuel cell-powered motorcycles, and is also looking to boost the overall efficiency of its hybrid systems during that time by combining it with more efficient engines. Honda is also looking to maintain its position as a leader in the development of fuel cell technology in the coming years. News of the fuel cell motorcycles initiative came as the company announced its expectations for the coming months and years. Like on the Ford Focus/ Mazda 3/Volvo S40 project, the term ‘platform’ is really shorthand for a component set that each brand’s designers can delve into when creating their own distinct vehicle, providing commonality of parts hits around 40 per cent. Usually, the target is 60 per cent, but Land Rover’s specific engineering needs have reduced this figure. The new Freelander will stick with a car-derived four-wheel-drive system that eschews a separate low-range transfer gearbox, an omission that saves both weight and complexity. But this second-generation off-roader is expected to be more sophisticated than the current Freelander and is rumoured to include an optional limited-slip rear differential. Engines will be picked from within the Ford empire and tweaked for a torquey SUV application. Land Rover will be able to choose from three four-cylinder petrols: a 115bhp 1.6 litre, 130bhp 1.8 and 145bhp 2.0, which replace today’s single choice of a Rover-derived 1.8. The platform is engineered to take Volvo’s five-cylinder units across the engine bay, although Land Rover will prefer a Ford V6 petrol for the US market. Common-rail turbodiesels from the Ford/Peugeot ‘Lion’ family will replace the BMW 110bhp 2.0-litre unit. An entry-level 115bhp 1.8, mid-range 136bhp 2.0 and 173bhp 2.2-litre are all potential choices for Land Rover’s engineers. A version of the 2.7-litre V6 TD is also under consideration. The chief weakness of the current Freelander is its cabin quality, despite a clever revamp in 2003. Expect higher-grade plastics and fabrics to bring a more quality feel to the cabin. The design itself is understood to be a little less formal than the Range Rover’s and Discovery’s, in a bid to appeal to car buyers who have to be teased out of their hatchbacks and saloons. The Freelander will be pitched as one of the few junior SUVs with off-road ability, but Land Rover is also keen to stress its ability on Tarmac, where most will spend the majority of their time. The car-derived rack-and-pinion steering should make the new Freelander a sharper drive. And, although the exact suspension set-up is still secret, it is reasonable to assume that the EU CD platform’s suspension of front struts and rear multi-link will be heavily upgraded for 4x4 applications. New Freelander’s wider stance and revised four-wheel-drive system should bring welcome increases in grip, roll resistance and high-speed stability. And the new platform and powertrains should improve refinement at speed, the main weakness of today’s Freelander. ‘We might be sharing a platform, but this is a real Land Rover,’ said a senior source. ‘We have the freedom to do just about what we want.’ Sales kick off in late 2006 with prices from around £16,500

Exclusive images in this week's mag reveal Citroen's all-new Picasso compact MPV undergoing road-testing. Clearly sharing the double chevron nose with the rest of the firm's range, the people carrier is taller than the C4 on which it's based. Similar in profile to the original model, the new Picasso will get larger dimensions to boost cabin space. That should help challenge rivals such as Ford's Focus C-MAX, the Honda FR-V and upcoming Vauxhall Zafira for interior practicality. With the C4 awarded the full five stars in recent Euro NCAP crash testing, the new Picasso is almost certain to offer occupants and pedestrians similar class-leading protection. Citroen is also likely to experiment with flexible seating for seven, offering folding and removable rear chairs on the Picasso for the first time. Borrowing heavily from the hatchback, buyers will find an improved interior, featuring better quality materials and increased storage throughout. Innovations from the C4, including its fixed-hub steering wheel, lane departure warning system and laminated side glass, are also likely to appear. The current Picasso is based on the old Xsara hatchback, but the newcomer's C4 underpinnings should mean that the driving experience will be much improved. A wide range of en-gines will be offered from launch, with the only change to the current line-up being the replacement of the 1.8-litre petrol unit with the company's new 2.0-litre motor. Si cum cineva a fost omul potrivit la locul potrivit, iata-ma mutat pe acest forum.. unde cred eu ca voi activa mai mult in domeniul noutatilor auto.. da dar marca nu o duce deloc bine A avut pierderi peste pierderi, datorita faptului ca masina era prea scumpa pentru ceea ce oferea.. si pe langa spatiul interior (la care sunt multi care nu vor sa renunte) , era si consumul(care numai de buburuza nu era) plus asa cum mai ziceam pretul.. Nu degeaba se gandeau cei de la daimler-chrysler acu cateva luni sa o inchida..
