September 21, 2005 Not everyone was thrilled with the announcement by the Alberta government that every person in the province will get a 400-dollar cheque from Alberta's unbudgeted surplus. Liberal Leader Kevin Taft says the province isn't doing enough to save for the future. Marisa Etmanski, spokeswoman for Premier Ralph Klein, says the rebate is not being done at the expense of any other programs. She adds people on welfare will not have their regular payments clawed back as a result of this gift from the province.
